Delete your account and data

This page lets you delete your PortuStories account, published by PortuStories, and the data held against it. It works for both the Android app and the website, and you do not need the app installed to use it.

Deleting your account is permanent

  • You permanently lose access to every collection you have bought — Lendas dos Açores, Clássicas and Romances Clássicos included.
  • Deleted purchases cannot be refunded, and they cannot be restored if you sign up again later. You would have to buy them a second time.
  • Any active subscription must be cancelled separately in Google Play or Stripe. Deleting your account here does not stop future billing.
  • Your reading progress, saved vocabulary, streaks and achievements are erased.

If you only want a fresh start, use Clear my learning data below instead — it keeps your account and everything you have paid for.

How to request deletion

  1. 1Sign in below with the same method you use for PortuStories — Google, or your email address and password.
  2. 2Choose whether to delete your whole account or only your learning data.
  3. 3To delete the account, type DELETE in the confirmation box and press the button. Deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone.

Cannot sign in? Email dxk@portustories.com from the address on your account and we will verify your identity and delete it for you within 30 days.

What gets deleted

Erased immediately when you delete your account:

Account record
Email address, display name, profile photo and sign-in method held by Firebase Authentication.
Profile document
Your marketing-consent choice and any purchase flags stored against your account.
Learning data
Reading progress, saved vocabulary, review schedule, streaks and achievements synced to our servers.
On-device data
Everything the app stored in your browser or device storage, cleared as part of the same action.

What is kept, and for how long

Payment records
Held by Stripe, our payment processor, for up to 10 years to meet tax and accounting law. PortuStories keeps no separate copy — deleting your account removes our record of what you bought.
Anonymous analytics
Aggregate usage statistics that were never linked to your identity and cannot be traced back to you.
Encrypted backups
Residual copies may persist in routine encrypted backups and are purged within 30 days.
