Futuro Simples: Simple Future Tense

The simple future tense expresses future events and is formed by adding endings directly to the infinitive. It is common in formal and written European Portuguese.

Three irregular contracted stems: fazer → far-, dizer → dir-, trazer → trar-.

Amanhã farei tudo o que é necessário.

Tomorrow I will do everything that is necessary.

Se estudares, passarás no exame.

If you study, you will pass the exam.

In spoken EP, the present tense or ir + infinitive is far more common. Reserve the simple future for formal writing and official announcements.
