Pedro estava sentado no café "A Tasca do Sol", em Alfama. O café estava cheio de turistas e ele estava a beber um galão enquanto lia o jornal. Estava um dia bonito lá fora — o sol estava forte e Lisboa estava linda.
Pedro was sitting in the café "A Tasca do Sol" in Alfama. The café was full of tourists and he was drinking a galão while reading the newspaper. It was a lovely day outside — the sun was strong and Lisbon was beautiful.
A Marta entrou. "Olá Pedro! Como estás?" "Estive a trabalhar de manhã, mas agora estou bem. E tu?" "Estou um bocado cansada", disse ela. "Estive a trabalhar muito esta semana." Pedro chamou o empregado. Marta pediu uma água. "A água está fria?", perguntou. "Está muito fria, senhora", respondeu o empregado.
"Hello Pedro! How are you?" "I've been working this morning, but I'm fine now. And you?" "I'm a bit tired," she said. "I've been working a lot this week." Pedro called the waiter. Marta ordered water. "Is the water cold?" she asked. "Very cold, madam," the waiter replied.
"Como está a tua mãe? Ainda está no hospital?" Pedro ficou sério. "Já não está no hospital. Esteve internada três dias, mas agora está em casa a recuperar. Os médicos dizem que está melhor." Marta sorriu. "Ainda bem!" Os dois ficaram sentados a conversar até ao fim da tarde.
"How is your mother? Is she still in hospital?" Pedro became serious. "She's no longer in hospital. She was hospitalised for three days, but now she's at home recovering. The doctors say she's better." Marta smiled. "That's good!" The two stayed sitting, chatting until the end of the afternoon.
