A mãe tinha posto a fita anos antes.
Gonçalo lived in Geneva, but on Saturday his brother was getting married in Porto. The suit for the wedding was going in his suitcase, a blue suitcase with a yellow ribbon on the handle. His mother had put the ribbon there years before. She used to say that every suitcase in the world was blue. Gonçalo had it all planned: on Friday, a flight at eleven to Lisbon and another, at three, to Porto. He was never late. So he laughed when his brother sent him a message: «Don't be late!»
In Geneva, every half hour, the flight was delayed a bit more: first thirty minutes, then an hour, then an hour and a half. In Lisbon, Gonçalo ran through the airport, but he reached the boarding gate two minutes late. They would not let him on. They gave him a seat on the eight o'clock flight that evening. On the board, next to that flight, the word DELAYED appeared straight away. Gonçalo texted his brother: «I'll be late, but I'll be there.»
