A Minha Família

Luísa está no parque com a sua nova amiga, Emma. "Tens família em Lisboa?" pergunta Emma. "Sim! Tenho uma família grande", responde Luísa. "Tenho pai, mãe, um irmão e uma irmã. E tenho dois avós que moram perto."

Luísa is in the park with her new friend, Emma. "Do you have family in Lisbon?" asks Emma. "Yes! I have a big family," replies Luísa. "I have a father, mother, one brother and one sister. And I have two grandparents who live nearby."

"Que família grande!" diz Emma. "Eu tenho só uma irmã. Os meus pais moram na Inglaterra." Luísa sorri. "A minha mãe tem três irmãos — os meus tios. E os meus tios têm filhos — os meus primos. Ao domingo, temos sempre almoço em família."

"What a big family!" says Emma. "I only have one sister. My parents live in England." Luísa smiles. "My mother has three brothers — my uncles. And my uncles have children — my cousins. On Sundays, we always have a family lunch."

"Em Portugal, a família é muito importante", explica Luísa. "Temos muito tempo juntos. Tenho muita sorte." Emma pensa na sua família em Inglaterra. "Também tenho saudades da minha família", diz ela. Em português, a palavra "saudade" tem um significado especial.

"In Portugal, family is very important," explains Luísa. "We spend a lot of time together. I'm very lucky." Emma thinks about her family in England. "I also miss my family," she says. In Portuguese, the word "saudade" has a special meaning.
