Jogar ou Estudar?

Rodrigo tem quinze anos e joga futebol no clube do bairro. Hoje à tarde, os amigos querem jogar. "Rodrigo, vens jogar?" "Quero jogar, mas tenho um teste amanhã." O amigo Tiago diz: "Jogas uma hora e depois estudas!"

Rodrigo is fifteen and plays football at the local club. This afternoon, friends want to play. "Rodrigo, are you coming to play?" "I want to play, but I have a test tomorrow." His friend Tiago says: "Play for an hour and then study!"

Rodrigo pensa. Ele joga muito bem — é o melhor jogador da equipa. Mas a professora de matemática é muito exigente. "Se não estudo, não passo no teste." Decide: "Hoje não jogo. Estudo." Os amigos ficam desapontados. "Então jogamos sem ti."

Rodrigo thinks. He plays very well — he's the best player on the team. But the maths teacher is very demanding. "If I don't study, I won't pass the test." He decides: "Today I won't play. I'll study." His friends are disappointed. "Then we'll play without you."

No dia seguinte, Rodrigo faz o teste. Corre bem! À tarde, vai jogar com os amigos. "Ontem foi bom que não jogaste?" brinca o Tiago. Rodrigo ri: "Fiz o teste bem. E hoje jogo à vontade!" A equipa ganha 3-0. Um bom dia para Rodrigo.

The next day, Rodrigo does the test. It goes well! In the afternoon, he goes to play with his friends. "Was it good that you didn't play yesterday?" jokes Tiago. Rodrigo laughs: "I did the test well. And today I play without worries!" The team wins 3-0. A good day for Rodrigo.
