Quantos anos tens?

"Quantos anos tens?" pergunta Kate ao Miguel. "Tenho vinte e oito anos. E tu?" "Tenho trinta anos." Em português europeu, usamos "ter" para dizer a idade. Não dizemos "Sou trinta anos" — dizemos "Tenho trinta anos".

"How old are you?" asks Kate. "I'm twenty-eight. And you?" "I'm thirty." In European Portuguese, we use "ter" (to have) to say age. We don't say "I am thirty years old" — we say "Tenho trinta anos" (I have thirty years).

Kate quer aprender os números. Miguel explica: "Um, dois, três, quatro, cinco. Dez, vinte, trinta, quarenta, cinquenta. Cem." Kate repete devagar. "E como se diz 'vinte e um'?" "Vinte e um! Vinte e dois! Vinte e três!" Miguel sorri. "Muito bem!"

Kate wants to learn the numbers. Miguel explains: "One, two, three, four, five. Ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty. One hundred." Kate repeats slowly. "And how do you say 'twenty-one'?" "Vinte e um! Vinte e dois! Vinte e três!" Miguel smiles. "Very good!"

"O meu pai tem sessenta e dois anos. A minha mãe tem cinquenta e oito", diz Miguel. Kate pratica: "O meu pai tem sessenta e cinco anos. A minha irmã tem vinte e cinco." Miguel está impressionado. "Excelente! Já sabes falar de idades!"

"My father is sixty-two. My mother is fifty-eight," says Miguel. Kate practises: "My father is sixty-five. My sister is twenty-five." Miguel is impressed. "Excellent! You already know how to talk about ages!"
