Uma Camisola Nova

É sábado e chove no Porto. A Rua de Santa Catarina está cheia de guarda-chuvas. O Afonso entra numa loja. Veste uma camisola cinzenta, velha, com um buraco no cotovelo. Precisa de uma nova. Uma empregada vem ter com ele. — Bom dia. Qual é o seu tamanho? — Médio. — E a cor? — Experimento tudo. Menos cinzento.

It's Saturday and it's raining in Porto. Rua de Santa Catarina is full of umbrellas. Afonso walks into a shop. He's wearing an old grey jumper with a hole in the elbow. He needs a new one. A shop assistant comes over to him. — Good morning. What's your size? — Medium. — And the colour? — I'll try anything. Except grey.

A empregada traz uma camisola amarela. — Experimente esta. O provador é ali, ao fundo. O Afonso fecha a cortina e experimenta. No espelho há um canário enorme. — Então? — Amarela não. A empregada traz uma verde. Fica apertada. Depois traz uma azul, como os azulejos da Capela das Almas. Fica grande. Parece um vestido.

The assistant brings a yellow jumper. — Try this one. The fitting room is over there, at the back. Afonso closes the curtain and tries it on. In the mirror there's an enormous canary. — Well? — Not yellow. The assistant brings a green one. It's tight. Then she brings a blue one, like the tiles on the Capela das Almas. It's too big. It looks like a dress.
