Amina is from Senegal and has been living in Amadora for a week. She needs a Portuguese number. Near the station, there is a small shop with mobile phones in the window. Behind the counter stands an old man with a pencil behind his ear.

— Boa tarde. — pergunta a Amina. — Sim. Dez euros, por favor.

— Good afternoon. I'd like a card for my phone, please. — Certainly — says the man. He puts the new card in her phone and switches it on. Then he takes the pencil from his ear and writes the number on a piece of paper. — Is the number new? — asks Amina. — New to you — he says, and laughs. — Would you like to top up your phone? — Yes. Ten euros, please.
