Emma is English and is in Lisbon for the first time. She is lost near Rossio. She sees a man and asks: "Excuse me, do you speak English?" The man, Carlos, replies: "I speak a little. But you can speak Portuguese with me — I'm learning English and you're learning Portuguese, aren't you?"

Emma ri. "Sim, estou a aprender. Falo muito mal!" Carlos diz: "Não, falas bem! Toda a gente fala mal no início." Os dois falam devagar. Carlos fala português e Emma fala português também. No final, Emma sabe onde fica o museu. "Obrigada! Falas muito bem com os turistas."

Emma laughs. "Yes, I'm learning. I speak very badly!" Carlos says: "No, you speak well! Everyone speaks badly at the beginning." The two speak slowly. Carlos speaks Portuguese and Emma speaks Portuguese too. In the end, Emma knows where the museum is. "Thank you! You speak very well with tourists."
