Como Estás Hoje?

Pedro está sentado num café em Alfama. O café chama-se "A Tasca do Sol" e está cheio de turistas. Pedro está a beber um galão e está a ler o jornal.

Pedro is sitting in a café in Alfama. The café is called "A Tasca do Sol" and it is full of tourists. Pedro is drinking a galão (white coffee) and is reading the newspaper.

A Marta entra. "Olá Pedro! Como estás?" Pedro sorri. "Estou bem, obrigado. E tu? Estás boa?" "Estou um bocado cansada", diz Marta. "Estou a trabalhar muito esta semana."

Marta comes in. "Hello Pedro! How are you?" Pedro smiles. "I'm well, thanks. And you? Are you well?" "I'm a bit tired," says Marta. "I'm working a lot this week."

Marta senta-se. "Onde está o empregado? Estou com sede." Pedro chama o empregado. "O empregado está ali, ao fundo." O empregado vem e Marta pede uma água. "A água está fria?", pergunta ela. "Está, senhora, está muito fria."

Marta sits down. "Where is the waiter? I'm thirsty." Pedro calls the waiter. "The waiter is over there, at the back." The waiter comes and Marta orders water. "Is the water cold?" she asks. "It is, madam, it's very cold."

"Como está a tua mãe? Ainda está no hospital?" Pedro fica sério. "Já não está no hospital. Agora está em casa, mas ainda está a recuperar. Os médicos dizem que ela está melhor."

"How is your mother? Is she still in hospital?" Pedro becomes serious. "She's no longer in hospital. Now she's at home, but she's still recovering. The doctors say she's better."

Marta sorri. "Ainda bem! Diz-lhe que estou a pensar nela." Pedro acena. "Digo, sim." Os dois ficam sentados no café. Está um dia bonito lá fora. O sol está forte. Lisboa está linda.

"That's good! Tell her I'm thinking of her." Pedro nods. "I will." The two sit in the café. It's a lovely day outside. The sun is strong. Lisbon is beautiful.
