Full Story — Portuguese with English Translation

João entra numa loja de roupa no Chiado. A empregada sorri. "Posso ajudar?" João responde: "Sim, pode. Posso ver aquela camisa azul?" A empregada tira a camisa. "Pode experimentar no provador." João pergunta: "Posso pagar com cartão?"

João enters a clothes shop in Chiado. The shop assistant smiles. "Can I help?" João replies: "Yes, you can. Can I see that blue shirt?" The assistant takes out the shirt. "You can try it on in the fitting room." João asks: "Can I pay by card?"

"Pode, sim. Aceitamos todos os cartões." João experimenta a camisa. Fica bem. "Posso levar também a camisa branca?" "Pode, claro. Pode levar as duas." João compra as duas camisas. "Podem envolver para oferta?" "Podemos, com certeza."

"Yes, you can. We accept all cards." João tries on the shirt. It fits well. "Can I also take the white shirt?" "Of course you can. You can take both." João buys both shirts. "Can you wrap them as a gift?" "We can, certainly."
