O Castelo Medieval

Inês tem oito anos e vive em Sintra. Há um castelo muito antigo na sua cidade. Hoje a professora leva a turma a visitar o castelo.

Inês is eight years old and lives in Sintra. There is a very old castle in her town. Today the teacher takes the class to visit the castle.

"Há mil anos, muitas pessoas viviam aqui," diz a professora. "Os soldados viviam nas torres. O rei vivia no palácio." Inês olha para as pedras antigas e imagina a vida medieval.

"A thousand years ago, many people lived here," says the teacher. "The soldiers lived in the towers. The king lived in the palace." Inês looks at the old stones and imagines medieval life.

"Como viviam as crianças?" pergunta Inês. "As crianças ricas viviam no castelo e estudavam," responde a professora. "As crianças pobres viviam nas aldeias e trabalhavam."

"How did children live?" asks Inês. "Rich children lived in the castle and studied," the teacher replies. "Poor children lived in the villages and worked."

Inês pensa que é muito diferente de hoje. Ela vive numa casa confortável com aquecimento e internet. "Quero aprender mais sobre como viviam as pessoas antigamente," diz ela.

Inês thinks it is very different from today. She lives in a comfortable house with heating and internet. "I want to learn more about how people lived in the past," she says.
