Story opening — Portuguese with English Translation

O Sr. Antunes mora no quinto andar do edifício. O Sr. Antunes desapareceu.

Mr Antunes lives on the fifth floor of the building. He is a widower and has no family in Lisbon. Luísa, who lives on the third floor, greets him every morning when they go to collect the post. On Wednesday, she does not see him. On Thursday, either. On Friday, she begins to worry. Mr Antunes has disappeared.

Luísa fala com o porteiro, o Manuel. "O Sr. Antunes?" diz Manuel.

Luísa speaks to the doorman, Manuel. "Mr Antunes?" says Manuel. "He left on Tuesday morning with a small suitcase. He didn't tell me where he was going." Luísa doesn't know what to think. Is he ill? Has he had an accident?
