Uma Nova Vida em Trás-os-Montes

A família Sousa vive em Lisboa há quinze anos. O pai, o Carlos, trabalha numa empresa de tecnologia. A mãe, a Sónia, é professora do primeiro ciclo. Os filhos, o Rui de doze anos e a Marta de oito, vivem numa vida de cidade: escolas grandes, autocarros, semáforos e muito movimento. Mas no início de setembro, tudo vai mudar. Carlos recebeu uma herança de um tio: uma quinta em Vila Flor, uma pequena vila em Trás-os-Montes. A família decidiu arriscar e mudar de vida.

The Sousa family has been living in Lisbon for fifteen years. The father, Carlos, works at a technology company. The mother, Sónia, is a primary school teacher. The children, Rui aged twelve and Marta aged eight, live a city life: big schools, buses, traffic lights and lots of movement. But at the beginning of September, everything is going to change. Carlos received an inheritance from an uncle: a farmhouse in Vila Flor, a small town in Trás-os-Montes. The family decided to take the risk and change their lives.

— Vamos viver numa aldeia? — pergunta o Rui com cara de surpresa, quando os pais lhe contam a notícia. — Sim, filho. Vamos viver em Vila Flor, numa quinta com terra e animais — explica o pai. — Mas eu nunca vivi fora de Lisboa! — diz o Rui. — Eu também nunca vivi no campo, mas há sempre uma primeira vez — responde a mãe com calma. A Marta sorri. Ela quer ver os animais. O Rui cruza os braços, pouco convencido, mas não diz mais nada.

"We are going to live in a village?" asks Rui with a surprised look when his parents tell him the news. "Yes, son. We are going to live in Vila Flor, on a farmhouse with land and animals," explains his father. "But I have never lived outside Lisbon!" says Rui. "I have never lived in the countryside either, but there is always a first time," his mother replies calmly. Marta smiles. She wants to see the animals. Rui crosses his arms, not quite convinced, but says nothing more.
